School Support

One in ten people are believed to have dyslexia. It is the most likely cause of a child falling behind in their schoolwork. Dyslexia affects far more than just reading and spelling, it has an effect on memory, sequencing and organisation. Dyslexia is different for everyone, but one thing is certain, early identification and intervention can make all the difference.

Bespoke packages of assessments are available according to the individual needs of the school. We use a range of different standardised assessments – WJIV Cognitive, WIATIII – UK, CTOPP2, TOMAL2, TOWRE 2 and DASH to assess a wide range of needs. We believe that early identification is key and will work with children from 5 years old.

We would initially discuss your requirements and the needs of your students before coming into school to carry out assessments. These may include standardised assessments of:

  • Core abilities – word reading, reading comprehension, reading fluency, spelling and writing.
  • Specific language, memory and processing skills – phonological awareness, phonological memory, working memory, visual processing speed, phonological processing speed and maths fluency.
  • General ability – Visual problem-solving, verbal reasoning and vocabulary.

A report would be written for each child/young person which would give test scores and recommendations for interventions/assistance/strategies to use in the classroom.
