Tutoring

As a teacher with 20 years’ experience in primary education, I fully appreciate that dyslexia affects all learners differently. I am trained in using the Dyslexia Action Literacy Programme, which is a comprehensive specialist literacy programme which promotes structured, cumulative learning. This, along with supplementary resources where needed, provides a pathway for learners with literacy difficulties.

Tutoring sessions would usually last an hour and would take place in our office or, under certain circumstances, in your home. The first session would potentially be slightly longer as time would be spent getting to know you and finding out which areas you find difficult. A placement assessment would also be carried out to pinpoint your starting point in the programme. Sessions would be personalised according to the learner’s age and needs. Sessions would include time spent on phonics, spelling, reading, punctuation and grammar taught through a variety of activities and games.

Cost:

£30 per hour.
